Kids - the best of humans

20-Feb-2011 at Forum mall, Debrecen

It was one fine Sunday morning. I had been to the mall where I usually wander around. I saw group of people gathered at ground floor with their kids dressed up in fantastic costumes. It was an awesome scene to be seen, where the toddlers were at their best. Well, it was a fancy dress event.

I saw kids dressed up like Cleopatra, angels, magicians, Spiderman, chick and many more. As the event began, they were called by their names. They got to come to the dais, do any performances if they wish, exhibit their costumes, turn around and that’s it. One after the other was coming as per their turn. A boy dressed up as Ninja fighter came and as he was leaving, one small girl came in dressed up as a fairy. The girl was not so comfortable. She was running back to her parents. This boy helped her and took her along with him, back to the dais. He was with her till it was her time to leave the dais. He supported her throughout. It was splendid for me seeing.

Soon, every kid had finished their performance and the event judges were discussing. This was the time all kids used the dais to the fullest. They were at their peak of happiness. All kids came to the dais, and danced, played, circled others, making rounds. What not!! They were doing whatever they felt like doing and it was mind-blowing. I saw an extreme synergy in those kids. They might not have even met every other kid. Though, they got mingled just like that. They didn’t leave anyone behind when having fun. A guy was trying to catch a feather which fell from a kid’s chick dress. He never took his eyes off the feather until he got them. After he got, he gave it to his sister to play!! Then again he started looking for one more. Two other girls also were after that feather. And he gave up to those girls!! (Typical male and female behaviour?? :p ) There was one smaller kid who, I think, would have just started to walk. He tried to walk and he fell. There were three more kids to help this kid stand up. Again the attempt to walk continued and he fell. Still there were kids to help him stand back up again. Then he started crawling and one more kid who can walk, also crawled along for company. Those who were jumping and dancing always cared that they aren’t hurting these crawlers. All were so happy and expressive that they didn’t even worry about the place or people around. There was no shy or hesitation to show love, share, and care and there was extreme happiness.

I couldn’t stop thinking, how did I miss these as I grow up??!! May be I did not lose these attributes completely, but still I am incomplete. These are the lines my mind recollected:

Gimme some sunshine..

Gimme some rain..

Gimme another chance, I wanna grow once again.. J
